Robyn Denholm replaces Elon Musk as Tesla’s Chairman with immediate effect
Elon Musk had agreed to step down as chairman of Electric carmaker Tesla as part of a settlement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Robyn Denholm will leave her Chief Financial Officer (CFO) post at Telstra and take over Musk’s position, which he’s been holding for 14 years. However, Musk will remain on the board as a director and Tesla CEO.


Jeff Sessions resigns as United States Attorney General
United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions resigned from his position, at US President Donald Trump’s request. Matthew Whitaker has been appointed the acting Attorney General of United States.


Coal India signs MoU with NLC for 5000 MW Power Generation
Coal India and NLC India (NLCIL), formerly Neyveli Lignite Corporation, will jointly set up 5000 MW of power generation capacity of which 3000 MW would be solar powered while the rest 2000 MW would be coal-fuelled. Coal India has been tasked to become a net zero emission energy company by the ministry of coal, a move which requires it to generate 3,000 MW of solar power. The MoU also extends for setting up of 2,000 MW of thermal power generation across CIL’s subsidiaries.


India’s unemployment rate jumps to 2-year high of 6.9%
Unemployment rate in the country rose to 6.9 percent in October — the highest in two years — according to a report by Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). The estimated number of people employed during October 2018 was 397 million. This was 2.4 percent lower than the rate in October 2017.


Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman In France On 3-Day Visit
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has left for Paris on a three-day visit to France. Ms Sitharaman will hold wide-ranging talks with her French counterpart Florence Parly on ways to deepen strategic cooperation between the two countries. ii. During the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron, the two countries decided to expand strategic ties and deepen counter-terror cooperation.
